Green Rakhis, Greener Tomorrow: SDP College Champions Eco-Friendly Celebrations

Under the sole inspiration of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha (Regd) & College Managing Committee, The Department of B.A. B.Ed. and Fine Arts of SDP College for Women, Ludhiana organised a Rakhi Making Competition with the inspiring theme “Nature: The Eternal Survivor and Protector” to sensitise students towards environmental conservation and encourage the use of eco-friendly materials. The competition provided students with an opportunity to prepare beautiful and innovative Rakhis without using plastic, making use of biodegradable and environment-friendly materials. As a meaningful part of the celebration, the students tied the eco-friendly Rakhis to trees, symbolising the bond of protection between human beings and nature. The initiative conveyed a strong message that just as a Rakhi signifies a promise to protect and care for our loved ones, we must also pledge to protect and nurture the environment that sustains us. Dr. Ranjana Sood, Officiating Principal, appreciated the efforts of the department and students for combining creativity with a meaningful environmental message. The event concluded with the felicitation of the winners and a reaffirmation that protecting nature is not merely an option but a collective responsibility, and every small step towards an eco-friendly lifestyle can contribute to a healthier and greener future.
