Under the direction of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College and SDP Sabha (Regd.) an extension lecture on ‘Special Functions’ was organised by the Department of Mathematics, SDP College for Women, Ludhiana on 16th April, 2019 in college premises. Dr. Rama Kumari, Associate Professor in Mathematics (Retired), College of Basic Science and Humanities, PAU, Ludhiana was the resource person. She was welcomed by Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal. Dr. Rama Kumari told the students about the history and future of special functions. She also told about hypergeometric functions, and Bessel’s functions. She further told the students that special functions are particular Mathematical functions which have more or less established names and notations due to their importance in Mathematical analysis, functional analysis, physics or other applications. Sh. Ajay Kumar, Head Department of Mathematics proposed a vote of thanks to the resource person for enlightening the students about special functions. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal appreciated the efforts done by the department of Mathematics.
