MAIN HIGHLIGHTS: Republic Day was celebrated in SDP College for Women under the able guidance of Sh. Balraj K Bhasin, President, SDP College for Women and SDP Sabha . A gala function was held at S.D.P College for Women, Ldh. here today in the college campus to mark the 69th anniversary of India’s Republic Day. All S.D.P educational institutions viz S.D.P.Sr .Sec School Hazoori Road, S.D.P. Sr.Sec, School Basti Jodhewal, Sri Om Parkash Gupta S.D.P. Model Sr. Sec. School, Quilla Mohalla, Sh. Ram Lal Bhasin Public School , Dugri and SDP Collegiate Sen. Sec. School, enthusiastically joined the celebrations. More than 5000 students of all S.D.P, Institutions marched through the streets to reach the venue of celebration with tri-colour flags in their hands and raising slogans “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.
Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President S.D.P, Sabha (Regd) and College Management Committee was the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by Sh. Lekh Raj Arora, Sr. Vice- President, , Sh HK Chugh, Gen Secy Members of Management, Sh. Dhari Shah Singla, Sh.Mangal Sen Grover, Sh. Rajinder Soi, Sh. Gulshan Thakural, staff and students . Escorted by N.C.C, cadets, the Chief Guest Sh. Bhasin gracefully marched forward to hoist the National Flag, while the school band played the welcome tune. As the Chief Guest unfurled the flag, the National Anthem added patriotic fervour and national spirit to the occasion.The students presented cultural and patriotic feast to commemorate the sweet memories and contributions of legendary heroes of Independence. Patriotic songs, Folk Dances, Giddha and Bhangra and Choreography on ‘Patriotism’ and ‘National Integration’ brought a splash of colour to the celebrations.
Hon’ble chief guest Sh Balraj K .Bhasin addressed the audience. In his message, he congratulated all present and said that the sole purpose of celebrating these national festivals is to make the students aware of the sacrifices made by legendary heroes and gallant warriors who made sacrifices and left a rich legacy that the coming generations can feel proud of. He appreciated the architects of the Indian Constitution who gave us a wonderful Constitution to rely on. He also apprised the students about 26 Jan 1930 when Late. Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru kept the foundation of present day Indian Republic.
