S.D.P. College Holds National Conference on Health

S.D.P. College For Women, Ludhiana organised CDC sponsored National Conference on the Health Status Of Indian Youth- - - A challenge for the times to come here today in the college seminar hall. The conference was organized under the supreme guidance and sole inspiration of Sh.BalrajBhasin President, SDP Sahba(Regd.) and College Managing Committee. Teachers from more than 30 colleges contributed papers in this conference.

Dr. Jatinder Grover, Dean, Faculty of Education, Punjab. University, Chandigarh was the key-not speaker while Dr. F.C. Shukla Retd. Prof.Food Technology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana was the resource person of the Technical Session Iand Dr. S.S. Rawat, Yoga Consultant, D.M.C.& Hospital, Ludhiana was the resource person of Technical Session II of the conference.

Dr. Neena AnejaPrincipal, M.S. Verma, Director and Dr. Ranjana Sood, Coordinator, accorded a very warm welcome to hon’ble keynote speaker Dr. Grover and resource persons.

The conference began with Deep Parjavalan&Shabad “Deh Shiva VarMoheEhe, Subh Karman” followed by key-note address by Dr. Jatinder Grover.

Dr. Grover began his address with Darwin’s TheorySurvival of the Fittestwhich is now Survival of the Fastest and moved to the main theme Healthy Lives Brighter Futuresand threw light on the factors that cause physical, mental and spiritual imbalance. He also elaborated some of the problems and ailments related to physical and mental health and concluded saying that it is only nutritional diet, yoga and yogic exercises, social activities etc. which alone can help to overcome imbalance which causes stress, depression, anxiety, alienation etc.

Dr. F.C Shukla declaimed upon the topic Food Technology. He began saying that food technology involves all aspects of food science including production, processing and distribution and the professionals work to improve manufacturing methods through preservation, storage and new product development. They work with food scientists to enhance the nutritional value of foods. He further said that with changes in life styles, eating habits of children & adolescents have under –gone a drastic change which has adversely affected the health and given birth to diseases like obesity, diabetes cardiovascular diseases , hypertension, hyperlipidemia, cancer etc and have also seriously affected the quality of life, survival and reproduction.

Dr. S.S RawatYoga Consultant, DMC & Hospital was the resource person of the valedictory session of the conference. In his address the emphasized regular physical exercise, nutritional diet, meditation and social activities which can beat stress anxiety and depression.

The conference concluded with distribution of certificates & vote of thanks.MsS.Verma Director, delivered vote of thanks. She thanked all present on the occasion.Sheespecially thanked the keynote speaker, resource persons and teacher participants of different colleges for sparing time from busy schedules and contributing in making this conference a grand success.
