Mock Drill was conducted in SDP College for Women, Ludhiana. A team from
Punjab Fire Service, Local Bus stand, Ludhiana comprising of Mr. Dheeraj Sharma,
Fire Officer, Mr. Pavittar Singh, Driver Operator, Mr. Saurabh Bhagat, Fireman
and Mr. Manjinder Singh, Fireman carried out the mock drill to prepare students
and teachers for any such eventuality under the fire risk reduction programme.
Mr. Dheeraj Sharma, Fire Officer, delivered an informative lecture on the
safety measures to be adopted during different types of fire emergency, the use
of fire extinguishers and the ways to respond swiftly in times of such
emergency situation. The students and staff members participated with great
enthusiasm and gained the knowledge attentively. Offg. Principal, Sudesh
Bhalla, applauded the efforts done by the experienced team for raising
awareness about fire fighting rescue operation.

It is a matter of great honour that Km. Kumkum, BCA IVth Sem of SDP College for Women got first position in College by securing 297/400 (74.25%) marks whereas Km. Reetika got second position in College by getting 293/400 (73.25%) marks followed by Srishti who got third position in College with 291/400 (72.75%) marks. A magnificent 52nd Annual Athletic Meet was organized by SDP College for Women amidst lot of enthusiasm, passion and vigour. Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College & SDP Sabha (Regd.) was the Chief Guest for the Closing Session. Sh Rajinder Soi was the Guest of Honour for the morning session. He unfurled the college flag, took salute from a well synchronized March past contingents, and declared the meet open.
The members, who graced the occasion, were Sh H.K. Chugh, Gen, Sec., Sh Rajinder Soi, Sh Vijay Inder Gupta, Sh Dhari Shah Singla, Mr. Parveen Verma, Sh Rajinder Kumar Talwar, Sh Jasveer Chauhan, Principal and Dr. Sanjeev Bindra, Principal. The Chief Guest was accorded a very warm welcome by the Members of the Management and the College Principal, Dr. Ravi Kant. The students presented Aerobics exercises and cultural item like Giddha. Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President addressed the students and motivated them to participate in sports. He also enlightened the students about the importance of sports and games in day-to-day life.

Under the able guidance of Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP College for Women and Sabha (Regd.), the Annual Alumni Meet was organized by the Alumni Association of SDP College for Women on 12th March, 2022 in the college premises. Dr. Ashwani Bhalla, the Chief Guest for the occasion, addressed the alumni to promote admissions in college. He also encouraged the current students to achieve greater heights in their life. The Ex-students were honoured by the College Principal. The present students displayed a variety of cultural events like Bhajan, Group Songs, Group Dance, etc. The old students too participated in the event with great enthusiasm. They also re-energized their past memories about their teachers and friends. The ambience was filled with nostalgic memories, laughter and joy of friendship. Under the able guidance of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha and College Managing Committee, an ‘On the Spot Teaching Aid Preparation’ Competition was organized by the Department of BAB.Ed, SDP College for Women, Daresi Road, Ludhiana. Under the able guidance of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha and College Managing Committee, a workshop on Calligraphy was organized by the Department of Fine Arts, SDP College for Women, Daresi Road, Ludhiana. During this workshop students were told about how to write in modern calligraphy style by using a regular pen or pencil. Students were also made aware about career in Calligraphy. Dr. Ravi Kant, Principal appreciated the efforts done by the department of Fine Arts.
Under the able guidance of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha and College Managing Committee, an online Interclass Cooking Competition was organized by the Department of Home Science, SDP College for Women, Ludhiana. The theme of the competition was to prepare protein rich foods to immunize from Covid-19. Students from various streams prepared different types of healthy food and displayed their culinary skills in making nutritious food. Under the able guidance of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha and College Managing Committee one day Faculty Development Programme on 'Principles of Designing Visually Effective Presentations' was organised by the Department of Computer Science. Ms. Daisy Wadhwa, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science, Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana was the resource person. Ms. Daisy Wadhwa enlightened the staff members about various styles of making powerpoint presentations. She also gave tips for using visual elements in presentation. An interactive session was also there wherein staff members got their queries cleared.Towards the end of the session, certificates to winner teams of quiz competition were given. The College Principal, Dr. Ravi Kant, appreciated for the efforts done by the Department of Computer Science.

On January 13, 2021 Lohri Festival was celebrated with lot of exuberance and enthusiasm from the NSS department of S.D.P. College for Women, Ludhiana under the motivation of Sh. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, S.D.P. College and S.D.P. Sabha(Regd.)
On this occasion, NSS volunteers participated actively. Everyone was enthralled by the colorful program in which volunteers presented songs, folk songs and dance items. Especially the songs on 'Kuria di Lohri' gave a valuable message to the society. Sh. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, S.D.P. College and S.D.P. Sabha (Regd), Committee members and officiating Principal congratulated the students on this occasion.
Under the guidance of Sh. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, S.D.P. College and S.D.P. Sabha (Regd.) NSS & NCC Volunteers took part in 7 days campaign of Budha Darya Cleanliness. They made the public aware of the importance of cleanliness. They worked enthusiastically in this compaign. They informed the public that cleanliness is most important for physical well being and a healthy environment. They made charts and also raised slogans like 'Save Buddha Darya' and 'Cleanliness is next to God'.
Under the direction of Sh. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, S.D.P. College and S.D.P. Sabha (Regd.) an extension lecture was organised by the Department of NSS and NCC of S.D.P. College for Women on 24 December, 2020. Dr. Puran Singh, Director Solid Waste Management and Swacch Bharat Mission (Punjab Govt.) was the resource person. He made the NSS & NCC volunteers aware of the cleanlines in and around the city. He also motivated the NSS & NCC cadets to take part in Budha Darya Cleanliness Campaign started by the Punjab Govt.
Panjab University declared the result of PGDCA 2nd semester examination held in May 2020. Kumari Aman Sharma, scored 918/1000 (91.8%) and secured 5th position in Panjab University whereas Kumari Anmol scored 913/1000 (91.3%) and secured 6th position in Panjab University. The overall result of the college was declared 100% and all the students passed in Ist division.

NCC Day was celebrated through Tree Plantation Drive on 27th November,2020. The cadets planted tree saplings nearby their residence and at college campus also.

On this Occasion, A rally was organized by the NCC Department. During this activity, The cadets and Caretaker spread the awareness about National Cancer Day nearby the surrounding areas of S.D.P College for Women, Ludhiana. It was also ensured that all preventive measures & Covid-19 protocol were followed while conducting activity.
Under the directions of Sh. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, S.D.P. College and S.D.P. Sabha (Regd.) an online extension lecture on “Diabetes and Dietary Management” was organized by the Department of Home Science, S.D.P. College for Women, Ludhiana on 10th November 2020 through online mode.
Dr. Arun Prabha Head, Department of Home Science, S.D.P. College for Women, Ludhiana was the speaker for the lecture. Dr. Arun Prabha made the students aware of the diabetes and dietary management in diabetes. The speaker suggested the students to take a balanced diet which is rich in complex carbohydrates, and fibre and to adopt a healthy lifestyle and dietary habits which inturn will result in making their bodies healthy and free from diabetes. Mrs. Ruby, In charge IQAC thanked the speaker for sharing her valuable views.

Dr. Rajni made the student aware of the Immunity and nutrients which can help in maintaining a good healthy life and strong immune system. It is a matter of great honour that Kumari Sheetal of SDP College for Women has got 3rd position in Panjab University in B.A. Sem III University Examinations held in December 2019 by scoring 350/400 (87.5%) and first in College whereas Kumari Shalini, M.Com Sem III got 10th Position in Panjab University by scoring 1739/2100 (82.80%) and first in College. Second position in college was bagged by Kumar Baljinder Singh in B.A. Sem III by scoring 331/400 (82.75%). Kumar Manish of B.A. Sem III Sem stood third in college and scored 329/400 (82.25%). Sh Lekh Raj Arora Vice-President and Officiating Principal congratulated the students on their achievements and motivated them to work even harder.
Under the sole inspiration of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha (Regd) & College Managing Committee, an Extension Lecture on ‘Overcoming Procrastination and Career Counseling’ was organised by the Department of B.A.B.ED and Placement Cell of SDP College for Women on 12 March, 2020. Dr. Nidhi Singhi, Career Counsellor, District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises, Ludhiana, Mr. Navdeep Singh, Deputy CEO and Ms Ramandep Kaur, EGTO, PCS were the resource persons. They were accorded a very warm welcome by Officiating Principal. Dr. Nidhi Singhi provided the students various strategies to stop procrastination and also told them how to crack competitive exams. Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, EGTO, PCS motivated the students and said that student’s success in studies depends much on managing time efficiently. A detailed discussion was made on career options available after completing graduation. Mr. Navdeep Singh enlightened the students about the various facilities being provided by Employment Exchange. An interactive session was also made in which a number of careers related queries were made by the students. A Vote of Thanks to the resource persons was proposed by Officiating Principal for enlightening the students about various career options available after completing their graduation.

Officiating Principal presided over the occasion. To honour womanhood, the students recited poems and shared their views. A Nukkad Natak on the theme ‘Women Empowerment’ was also enacted by the students of Department of Political Science. Officiating principal in her speech stressed on the fact that everyday should be celebrated as Women’s day. She also stressed on gender equality and said that women and men should be treated equally in social, economic and all other aspects of society. She appreciated the efforts done by the Department of Political Science.
Under the supreme guidance and sole inspiration of Sh. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha (Regd.) and College Management Committee, an industrial visit at Paramount Syntex Pvt. Limited, Kohara, Ludhiana was arranged by the department of Commerce, SDP College for Women, Ludhiana. During the visit the students were given practical knowledge about Acrylic Fiber Yarns, Dyed fiber yarns with in-house Dyeing unit, Convertor system, Spinning, Bulking and Packing facilities. The college students and teachers thanked Mr. Ramesh Arora, MD, Paramount Syntex Pvt. Limited, Kohara, Mr. Puneet Arora, Kumkum Arora and General manager Sh. Srivastava for educating the students regarding the manufacturing process of the company. This exposure will definitely help the students to gain real time knowledge of what they have been theoretically or practically.
Under the able guidance of Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha College Managing Committee, ‘Traffic Rules Awareness Programme’ was arranged by NSS and NCC Department of SDP College for Women, Ludhiana. Sr. Gurpreet Singh, Constable Traffic Police and Ms Himanshi Arora, Safety Riding Co-ordinator, Children Traffic Training Park, Model Town, Ludhiana were the resource persons on the occasion. They were accorded a warm welcome by Officiating Principal. Sr. Gurpreet Singh, Constable gave a lecture on traffic rules. He asked the students to follow the traffic rules and practice self- discipline by wearing helmet or seat belt whether the police is present at the signals or not and safeguard their young lives. Ms. Himanshi Arora, Safety Riding Co-ordinator, apprised the students about the intensity of the increasing number of road accidents. She also discussed traffic signs and how to obey for the safety of all. Officiating principal thanked the honourable guests for organizing the traffic training and making the students aware of the traffic rules and following them and make the roads of Ludhiana safe and accident free.
Under the direction of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College and SDP Sabha (Regd.) an extension lecture on ‘Eat Right, Live Right’ was organised by the Department of Home Science, SDP College for Women, Ludhiana on 26 February, 2020 in college premises. Dr. Kiran Grover, Professor, Food and Nutrition, PAU, Ludhiana was the resource person. She was accorded a warm welcome by Officiating Principal. Dr. Kiran Grover detailed about the need for maintaining proper diet to lead a healthy life. She suggested the students to avoid consuming junk food and adding fruits and green vegetables in their diet. She further enumerated various nutritive tips which can help them from diseases. 51st Annual Athletic Meet was held in SDP College for Women, Ludhiana amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie on 22 February, 2020. Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College & SDP Sabha (Regd.) presided over the occasion and he was the Chief Guest for the Closing Session. Sh Rajinder Soi was the Guest of Honour for the morning session. He unfurled the college flag, took salute from a well synchronized March past contingents, lighted the torch, released balloons and declared the meet open.
The Chief Guest was accorded a very warm welcome by the Members of the Management, Officiating Principal, Ms. Parkash Grewal, Convener. More than 500 students presented P.T. show, Aerobics exercises following the tune of the music and beat of the drum. The students wholeheartedly participated in all events like 50 mts, Race, 100, 200 & 400 mts. and displayed great teamwork and sportsmanship. Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President addressed the students and motivated them to participate in sports and inculcate values like discipline, team work and leadership.

They were accorded a very warm welcome by Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College and SDP Sabha (Regd), Members of the Management, Officiating Principal and Sh KK Mahindru. The debaters debated for and against a very contemporary topic, ‘Is Technology going to Save the World.. or Kill it?’. They put forth their views and arguments skilfully. In total 15 college teams participated in the contest. Dr. Harsimrat Kaur Grewal appreciated the participants for their confidence. The Chief Guest lauded the debaters for demonstrating their oratory skills enthusiastically and said that there should be balance in today’s digital era He further exhorted the students to participate in such competitions and share their knowledge. Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Sh. Vinay Dawar and Retd. Professor Dr Rama Kumari, were the jury members on the occasion. Dr Geeta Bhandari, Organising Secretary proposed a Vote of Thanks to guests and participating teams.

The Students came forward and put their problems being faced by them. They were also given assurance that their problems would be resolved shortly. Sh. H.K. Under the guidance of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College & SDP Sabha (Regd.). the Annual Alumni Meet 2020 was organised by Alumni Association of SDP college for Women on 8 February, 2020 in college premises. The function was presided over by the Officiating Principal. The Ex-students presented a variety of cultural items like Group Songs, Bhangra, Group Dance etc. Tambola and Pass the Parcel games were also played by the Ex students. They revived their old memories and moments with their old friends. Officiating Principal expressed her gratitude to the Alumni for making it a successful event. She also stressed upon the importance of Alumni Meet and hoped that the current students will be motivated by the ex students and will achieve greater heights in their life.
Under the supreme guidance of Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha(Regd) and College Managing Committee, Basant Panchami was celebrated by the Department of Music and Hindi, SDP College for Women on 29 January, 2020. The students from Music Department presented the Saraswati Vandana to mark the day. They recited poems and also played xylophone. The whole college was filled with the air of peace and spirituality. Officiating Principal prayed to Maa Saraswati for the well being and prosperity of the students. She also motivated the students to keep their body and mind healthy.
71 st Republic Day was celebrated by SDP Educational Institutions with Patriotic fervour. All SDP Institutions viz SDP College for Women, SDP Sr Sec School Hazoori Road, SDP Sr Sec School, Basti Jodhewal, Sri Om Parkash Gupta, SDP Model Sr Sec School, Sh. Ram Lal Bhasin Public School, and SDP Collegiate Sen. Sec. School jointly celebrated the occasion. More than 5000 students of all SDP Institutions marched through the streets to reach the venue of celebration with tri-colour flags in their hands and raising slogans “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.
Under the direction of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha & College Managing Committee, an ‘Open Defecation Free’ rally was taken out by the Department of NCC, SDP College for Women on 12th Dec. The rally was flagged off by the Principal of the college. NCC Cadets took part in this rally enthusiastically to spread the message not to defecate in open. They also raised various slogans to sensitise the local people about cleanliness and make India an Open Defecation Free.
Under the able guidance of Sh Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha and College Managing Committee, Shramdaan Day under the theme ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ was organised by the NCC Department of SDP College for Women, Ludhiana on 5th December 2019. On this occasion, NCC Cadets took part in cleanliness of the college and near by areas. They also spread the message of cleanliness in and around their locality
Under the direction of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College and SDP Sabha (Regd.) NCC Day was celebrated on 19th November by the Department of NCC, SDP College for Women, Daresi Road. On this occasion, an awareness rally was taken out against Drug Addiction and Corruptio in which NCC Cadets took part enthusiastically. A speech competition was also organised wherein NCC Cadets shared their views on the topic ‘Drug Addiction and Corruption’ and enlightened the students on such sensitive issues.

Sh Vishal Sharma, Head of Swami Vivekananda Sansthan, Ludhiana and Sh. Naresh Gaba, Vivekananda Centre, Kanyakumari were the resource persons. They were accorded a very warm welcome by Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal. Sh Vishal Sharma expressed his thoughts and opinion on the principles of Swami Vivekananda. He deliberated on Swami Vivekananda’s ‘Universal Brotherhood’ preaching. He further made the students aware of the difference between Integration and Association. Sh Ramesh Soni, Sh Kamal Soni, Smt. Riya Soni, and Maharaj Sh. Adhyatmanand Puri Ji and Sh Kuldeep Kumar from Shree Hanumant Seva Sansthan were the Honourable Guests for the occasion. To inaugurate the function, the lamp lightening ceremony was done as a tribute to Mother Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge. Under the able guidance of Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha & College Managing Committee, the Department of NSS, NCC, SDP College and with the collaboration of Nagar Nigam, Ludhiana a lecture under ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ was organized here today in College premises. Mr. Surinder Arora, Sanitary Inspector, MC, Mr. Ram Lal, MC and their team members were accorded warm welcome by Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal. Mr. Surinder Arora, Centre Inspector, MC educated the students on the need of banning plastic bags. He also enlightened the students about the harmful effects of using plastic bags. Mr. Ram Lal in his speech appealed the students to refuse, reduce and recycle plastic products in their daily use. He said that it is an opportunity for collective efforts to reduce the use of plastic. He also made the students aware of 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Students from various streams expressed their views on the preachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and need of banning plastic bags. They also made posters appealing not to use plastic. Students were given certificates. Ms. Manju Bhashinee, officiating Principal thanked the team members for encouraging the students to shun plastic bags.
It is a matter of pride and honour that Km Shalini of SDP College for Women, Ludhiana has secured 5th rank in Panjab University, Chandigarh in M.COM II Sem, May 2019 exams by obtaining 1173 out of 1400( 83.78%). Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha & College and Officiating Principal, Ms. Manju Bhashinee expressed happiness over the achievement and congratulated the student who brought laurels to the college. Kumari Shalini attributed her brilliant performance due to the excellent inputs and motivation provided by the faculty and blessings of her parents.

Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal presided over the occasion. Students of the college recited poems and gave beautiful speeches to express their deep love and respect for their teachers with great enthusiasm. Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal threw light on the importance of a teacher in life through the preachings of The Bhagavad Geeta, to achieve complete knowledge. She also said that a teacher is like role model person in student’s life who bring out the best in them and encourage them to strive for greatness.

A ‘Miss Fresher’ contest was the main highlight comprising of three rounds- catwalk, introduction and talent display. Ms Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal applauded the talent of students and emphasised on the significance of such events which serve as a great way of creating lasting bonds between students and teachers.
To mark the ‘National Sports Day’ a fitness pledge was taken by the students of SDP College for Women, Ludhiana as per the guidelines of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi on the launch of a nation-wide ‘Fit India Movement’. A live telecast of the inaugural event ‘The Fit India Movement’ was shown to students wherein the Hon’ble Prime Miniter Sh Narendra Modi said that Fitness is the core of our culture and inheritance. Let us all run, play, be fit and celebrate life. It was followed by a fitness pledge. All the students along with faculty members and Officiating Principal, Ms. Manju Bhashinee took a fitness pledge with an aim to give priority to sports and fitness in their day-to-day lives. Ms Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal also urged the students and faculty members to be a part of ‘Fit India Movement’ and make this event a grand success.

Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal presided over the function. The ceremony of Jyoti Prajwalan was performed before the commencement of the celebration. On this occasion the students added the colour of spirituality by singing melodious hymns in the glory of Lord Krishna. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha(Regd.) & College Managing Committee, a Teej was celebrated in SDP College for Women, Ludhiana on 14th August 2019 with great cultural, aesthetic gaiety and amidst all rituals and traditional fervour. The students dressed up in Punjabi traditional attires also donned colourful phulkaris and embellished jewellery. They also danced to the tunes of Punjabi folk songs. A perfect ambience was created to mark the festivity by organising various competitions such as Bangles, Mehandi, Jutti and Paranda competition. Mrs. Kiran Chugh, Sh Deepak Kapoor, Smt Anu Kapoor, Mrs. Shivani Gupta, and Smt Meenakshi Gupta graced the function with their benign presence. Speaking on the occasion, Smt Anu Kapoor said that celebrations are of great help to make the students aware of our cultural values and traditions. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha (Regd.) and College Management Committee, Student wing of Human Rights Sanrakshan Sansthaa (Having consultative status with the United Nations) started with a Tree Plantation Drive in different parts of the city with a mission to make Ludhiana green for the posterity. Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal and Dr. Geeta Bhandari, National General Secretary, HRSS blessed the students for their green initiative.

On this occasion the students recited poems to celebrate the spirit of comradeship. Friendship cards were also made by the students of various streams. The function was presided over by the Officiating Principal, Ms. Manju Bhashinee. She admired the students for their efforts and coaxed them to take part in co-academic activities.
Under the guidance of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College & SDP Sabha, Hawan – a very pious and religious ceremony was performed by SDP College for Women to mark the commencement of new session 2019-20.
Sh Lekh Raj Arora, Vice President, his wife Smt. Swarn Lata were the Yajmans and they performed the Hawan. The Members of Management Committee who graced the occasion were Sh Dhari Shah Singla, Sh Om Parkash Angrish, Sh Vijay Inder Gupta, and Sh Rajender Soi. They all were accorded a very warm welcome by Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Prinicipal. Directors Mr. SM Sharma and Mr. Mahendru were also present on the occasion. They blessed and guided the new enrolled students to imbibe the principles of diligence, punctuality and discipline to achieve success in life.
It is a matter of pride and honour that Km Nishu of SDP College for Women, Ludhiana has secured 7th rank in Panjab University, Chandigarh in BCA II Sem by obtaining 333 out of 400 (83.25%) and second position in Ludhiana district as well. SDP college for Women also witnessed 100 % result in BCA II, IV and VI Sem. Sh. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha & College and Officiating Principal, Ms Manju Bhashinee expressed happiness over the achievement of student who brought laurels to the college.
It is a matter of pride and honour that Km Rukmani of SDP college for Women, Ludhiana bagged third position in B.A.6th Sem by obtaining 2037 out of 2400 (84.87%) in exams conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh. She stood first in Ludhiana district as well. Km Kajal bagged second position in College by obtaining 1859 out of 2400 (77.45%) and Km Vinkle bagged third position in college by obtaining 1791 out of 2400 (74.62%). Sh. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP Sabha & College and Officiating Principal expressed happiness by congratulating the topper and faculty members. Km. Rukmani gave the credit to the dedicated teachers and family members for her success
SDP College for Women, Ludhiana paid a rich tribute by garlanding the statue of the great Freedom Fighter late Sh. Om Parkash Gupta, a seasoned politician (elected M.L.A thrice from Ludhiana East Constituency in 1977, 1980 & 1985). Late Sh. Gupta was an altruistic person. His selfless service is well recognised in the history of SDP Institutions. He devoted his entire life to the dissemination of education and reformation of depressed sections of society.

The successors bade nostalgic adieu to the outgoing classes. The Chief Guest of the function, Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal was given a floral welcome by the organisers. The occasion witnessed a variety of scintillating dance performances and pulsating music by the juniors. The Judges of the modelling round were Dr. Geeta Bhandari, Ms. Sonia and Ms. Poonam. Under the direction of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College and SDP Sabha (Regd.) an extension lecture on ‘Special Functions’ was organised by the Department of Mathematics, SDP College for Women, Ludhiana on 16th April, 2019 in college premises. Dr. Rama Kumari, Associate Professor in Mathematics (Retired), College of Basic Science and Humanities, PAU, Ludhiana was the resource person. She was welcomed by Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal. Dr. Rama Kumari told the students about the history and future of special functions. She also told about hypergeometric functions, and Bessel’s functions. She further told the students that special functions are particular Mathematical functions which have more or less established names and notations due to their importance in Mathematical analysis, functional analysis, physics or other applications. Sh. Ajay Kumar, Head Department of Mathematics proposed a vote of thanks to the resource person for enlightening the students about special functions. Under the direction of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College and SDP Sabha (Regd.) a workshop on ‘Life Skills’ was organised by the Department of B.A.B.ED, SDP College for Women, Ludhiana on 9th April, 2019 in college premises. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Associate Professor, Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial College of Education, Moga was the resource person. He was accorded a warm welcome by Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal. Dr. Ajay Kumar made the students aware that life skills are the abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demand and challenges of everyday life. He also told the students that life skills help us to build healthy relationship in society. An interactive session was also organised in which students got their queries cleared. Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal thanked the resource person for expressing his valuable views on life skills and also appreciated the efforts done by the Department of B.A.B.ED.
Under the direction of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College and SDP Sabha (Regd.) an extension on ‘Career Opportunities in Sociology’ was organised by the Department of Sociology, SDP College for Women, Ludhiana on 8th April, 2019 in college premises. Mr. Raman Vohra, Researcher & Investigator, PURC, Ludhiana, Certified Career Counsellor was the resource person. He was welcomed by Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal and Ms. Priyanka Arora. Mr. Raman Vohra told the students that sociology teaches every member of every association as to how they can progress in their life through mutual cooperation. He also made the students aware about the further opportunities in sociology field. It is a matter of great honour that Km. Shalini of S.D.P. College of Women,Ludhiana scored 3rd position in M.Com 1st Semester Examination conducted by Punjab University Chandigarh in Dec. 2018 securing 586 marks out of 700 (83.71%).Sh. Balraj Bhasin President S.D.P Sabha and S.D.P College Managing Committee congratulated Ms.Shalini for bringing laurels to the college.

A Nukkad Natak on the theme ‘Women Empowerment’ was enacted by the students of Department of History and Political Science. Ms Manju Bhashinee, the Officiating Principal presided over the occasion and stressed on the fact that everyday should be celebrated as Women’s day. She also stated that women should take the lead in changing the psychology of men. She congratulated Ms Sukhjinder Kaur and Ms Mamta for taking the initiative and motivating the students. Dr. Geeta Bhandari , IQAC Coordinator said that the girls are adroit and dexterous and can improve the social fabric of society by the potential which is innate.
50th Annual Sports Fiesta was held in SDP College for Women, Ludhiana amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie under the guidance of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College & SDP Sabha (Regd.). Sh Lekh Raj Arora, Vice President was the Guest of Honour for the inaugural session. He unfurled the college flag, took salute from a well synchronized March past contingents, lighted the torch, released balloons and declared the meet open.
Sh Balkar Singh Sandhu, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana was the Chief Guest for the closing session. Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President and Members of the Managing Committee welcomed the Chief Guest. More than 500 students presented P.T. show, Aerobics exercises following the tune of the music and beat of the drum. The students wholeheartedly participated in all events like 50 mts, Race, 100, 200 & 400 mts. The Chief Guest addressed the students and motivated them to participate in sports to inculcate values like discipline, team work and leadership.

Sh Lekh Raj Arora, Vice-President inaugurated the Medical Camp. Ms. Manju Bhasinee, Officiating Principal welcomed all the team members from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. Students as well as teachers came for Health Check Up. They were provided free medical service and consultation about dental care and eye care. Mr. Gurjeet Singh, Senior Manager, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital enlightened the students about healthy diet and routine checkup. He also made them aware about ‘Health Awareness Policies’ given by Government. Om Parkash Gupta Memorial Inter-College Debate Contest was organised by SDP College for Women on 30th January, 2019 under the direction of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College and SDP Sabha (Regd). Sh Shyam Sunder Malhotra, Senior Deputy Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Members of the Management, Sh. Dhari Shah Singla, Sh Om Parkash Angrish, Sh Mangal Sain Grover, Sh Vijay Inder Gupta, Sh Sanjeev Gupta, Sh Sidharth Gupta, Ms S Verma, Director, Sh KK Mahindru, and Officiating Principal, Ms. Manju Bhashinee accorded a very warm welcome to the Chief Guest. The debaters debated for and against a very contemporary topic, ‘Craze for Foreign Degrees is a Boon for India’. They put forth their views and arguments skilfully. 70th Republic Day was celebrated in SDP College for Women under the able guidance of Sh Balraj Kumar Bhasin, President, SDP College for Women and SDP Sabha. A grand function was held in S.D.P College for Women, Ludhiana here today in the college campus to mark 70th anniversary of India’s Republic Day. All SDP educational institutions viz SDP Sr Sec School Hazoori Road, SDP Sr Sec School, Basti Jodhewal, Sri Om Parkash Gupta SDP Model Sr Sec School, Quilla Mohalla, Sh. Ram Lal Bhasin Public School , Dugri and SDP Collegiate Sen. Sec. School, joined the celebration with immense zeal and fervour. More than 5000 students of all SDP, Institutions marched through the streets to reach the venue of celebration with tri-colour flags in their hands and raising slogans “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.Sh. Dr. B.B. Singla, Assistant Professor, Marketing Management, Panjabi University, Patiala was the resource person. Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal and Dr Ranjana Sood, Head of Economics Department accorded a warm welcome to the resource person. The programme began with the lightning of traditional lamp ceremony. The welcome address was presented by Mr. S.M. Sharma, Director. The resource person expressed his valuable views on marketing skills and also told the students that how we can use marketing skills so that we can attract customers. All NSS volunteers and NCC cadets participated in this rally to spread the message of ‘Save the
Girl Child’. The rally was flagged off from SDP College for Women by Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal on 14 Nov 2018. The participants carried banners relating to the message to Save the Girl Child, Cleanliness and Anti-drugs. Awareness Programme’ here today on 12 Nov 2018 in College premises. Sr. Gurdev Singh, ACP Traffic, Ludhiana was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr. Naval Kishore Kaura, President ‘Safe Drive Stay Alive’ an NGO,
educating the students in various educational institutions on the need of Traffic Management and obeying traffic rules, Mr. Darshan Arora, Chairman, Ludhiana, Citizens Council, State Awardee for Social Service was also present on the occasion. They were accorded a warm welcome by Officiating Principal, Ms Manju Bhashinee and Dr. Geeta Bhandari, IQAC Co-ordinator. Sr. Gurpreet Singh, Constable gave a lecture on traffic rules. He asked the students to follow the traffic rules and practice self- discipline irrespective of whether the police is present at the signals or not and safeguard their young lives. The ACP Traffic also brought to the notice of the students that the youngsters are
becoming victims of road accidents due to traffic violations which has to be controlled. Mr. Naval Kishore Kaura, Mr. Rajneesh and Mr. Sunil Jasuja also addressed. Dr. Geeta Bhandari, IQAC Co- ordinator thanked the Chief Guest and honourable guests for organizing the traffic training and making the students aware of the traffic rules and following them and make the roads of Ludhiana safe and accident free.

Sabha (Regd.) and College Managing Committee, and with the co-operation of Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi, United India Insaurance Company Ltd. , Regional Office Ludhiana , Youth Club , N.C.C and N.S.S , Organised an Essay Writing Competition in SDP College for Women Ludhiana on Nov. 02, 2018. Sh Sanjeev Kumar , Vigilance Officer , Smt. Shamma Arora Mittal , Legal Officer , Sh. Prashant Johri, Regional Engg. were the note worthies . Students presented their views on the Eradication of Corruprtion and make India new. Around 51 girls participated in this competition. Ms. Manju Bhashinee ,Officiating Principal presided over the occasion. Students also took pledge for the eradication of corruption.

Sabha (Regd.) and College Managing Committee, Department of Commerce and Economics of SDP College for Women organized an extention lecture on Job opportunities in Insurance sector on Nov. 05, 2018. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Vishal Kapoor, Branch manager, Exide Life Insurance and his team. The objective of the lecture was to make the students aware about the various career opportunities in Insurance sector. Mr. Vishal kapoor interacted with the students and satisfied their

It is a matter of pride and honour that Km Rukmani of SDP College for Women bagged first position in Panjab University BA Semester III Exam and secures 353 marks out of 400. She owed all this to her hard work and motivation by the teachers. A seminar on Investors Awareness in Capital Market and Financial Management was organized in SDP College for Women on 2nd May, 2018. The lecture was delivered Dr. Vanita Verma, Professor in Mathematics Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh who has done PhD. from IIT, Delhi. Ms. ManjuBhashinee, the Officiating Principal gave a floral welcome to the Guest Speaker. Dr. Vanita Verma spoke on the subject of ‘Optimisation Theory’ also known as the modern term for Operations Research. She highlighted the applicability of this theory as a methodology of making something (like design, system, decision) as fully perfect, functional or effective as possible, specifically in the mathematical procedures. Sabha (Reg.) and College Managing Committee, an Extension lecture was organized by the Career Counselling and Guidance Cell of SDP College for Women in the college premises on April 13, 2018. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Charanjit Singh, Centre Head, Khan Study Group (KSG) Ludhiana along with his team. He gave a PowerPoint presentation on ‘Preparing for IAS exam’ to the students. Through his lecture he informed the students about various prospects in the field of Civil Services sector. He also gave insights about the VSAT technology that their centre has adopted to impart quality education for the benefit of local students who cannot afford to go out of the city for preparation. The students listened to the lecture attentively and asked various questions about preparation and examination of Civil Services. ‘Youth Empowerment Day’ was celebrated as per the guidelines of Nodal Officer, Anti Drug Cell,Punjab State Government, in SDP College for Women on 23 March, 2018 with great enthusiasm. This date marks the death anniversary of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. The students took the solemn oath of ‘Making India, a Drug free Nation’ under the banner of Drug Abuse Prevention Officer. The ceremony was driven with the motive to create awareness on the rising cases of youth getting trapped in the vicious web of Drug Abuse.
Ms. Manju Bhashinee, the Officiating Principal encouraged the teaching as well as non-teaching staff to honour their pledge by joining hands towards making this mission a success.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Department of Social Sciences celebrated International Women Day under the direction of Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President, SDP College for Women and Sabha (Regd). The students presented extempore speeches on women empowerment and also recited poems on the occasion. The students were motivated and sensitized by the teachers on the gender issues. Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal presided over the function and stressed on the fact that everyday should be celebrated as Women Day. Dr Geeta Bhandari, IQAC Coordinator motivated the students to be brave and courageous and walk on the path of righteousness. The teachers of the college, Dr. Ranjana Sood, Dr. Shikha Mishra, Ms. Mandeep and Ms. Anmol also shared their personal views and experiences motivating the students to be strong and confident in everyday situations of life.

More than 800 students presented PT show, Aerobics exercises to the tune of the music and beat of the drum. Under the guidance of Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President College Managing Committee, N.S.S. Department organized a one-day free health checkup camp for students of NCLP (National Child Labour Project) school on 27th Feb. 2018 in the college campus. Mrs. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal, presented a bouquet of flowers to Dr. Tasveen (BHMS) and her team members. Dr. Tasveen discussed about the various health issues. She examined near about 40 students of various classes especially from 1st standard to 5th standard. The Doctor prescribed them various medicines. She also advised the students to increase the intake of green vegetables in their lunch and dinner. Mrs. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal advised school students to take proper nutrition & healthy diet. She also appreciated the efforts of N.S.S. Program officers Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur, Ms. Poonam and Ms. Esha Gupta for organizing the one day free medical checkup camp for needy students.
Under the able guidance of Sh. Balraj K Bhasin, President, SDP College for Women, an extention lecture was organised by the Physical Education Department on 17th Feb. 2018 in the college premises. Mr. Arjun Tiwari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Yoga, (B.A, B .P .Ed), N.I.S Patiala addressed the students. Mrs. Manju Bhashinee, the Officiating Principal, Ms. Parkash Grewal (Head of Physical Education Department) and Mr. Satnam Singh, Astt. Prof. gave a floral welcome to the guest. Mr. Arjun spoke on ‘History Development and Organisation of Yoga’. He guided the students and staff of SDP College for Women with Yoga Aasanas and highlighted the importance of good health. He also emphasized on the adverse effects of Stress on human life and how Yoga is helpful in it. A trained student of NSNIS Patiala showed the physical demonstration of Asanas of Yoga. Mrs. ManjuBhashinee, the Officiating Principal honoured the guest. Ms.Parkash Grewal, (Head of Department of Physical Education Department) appreciated his efforts and showed gratitude for making students aware about Yoga.

The names of the students are Babu Khan and Vishal Kumar. Both of them are students of B.A. 1st year. Ms. Manju Bhashinee, the officiating Principal congratulated both the students.
Open Darbar Session organized at S.D.P. College for Women
Under the guidance of Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President S.D.P. Sabha & College Managing Committee, an open interactive session was held at S.D.P. College for Women on 1 February, 2018 to provide fastrack solutions to the problems being faced by students in their day-today life in the college campus. The proceedings of the session were presided over by Ms. Manju Bhashinee, the officiating Principal of the college and Ms. S. Verma, Director conducted the session.
The presiding committee gave a patient hearing to the problems and grievances brought forward in the open session and provided solutions by giving instructions to the concerned persons and also gave assurance for the speedy redressal of grievances in future. Ms. S. Verma also gave them some insights on the history of college along with tips on civic sense and solutions for maintaining discipline in the college. The Session concluded with a vote of thanks to Ms. Verma presented by Ms. Manju Bhasinee.

A gala function was held at S.D.P College for Women, Ldh. here today in the college campus to mark the 69th anniversary of India’s Republic Day. All S.D.P educational institutions viz S.D.P.Sr .Sec School Hazoori Road, S.D.P. Sr.Sec, School Basti Jodhewal, Sri Om Parkash Gupta S.D.P. Model Sr. Sec. School, Quilla Mohalla, Sh. Ram Lal Bhasin Public School , Dugri and SDP Collegiate Sen. Sec. School, enthusiastically joined the celebrations. More than 5000 students of all S.D.P, Institutions marched through the streets to reach the venue of celebration with tri-colour flags in their hands and raising slogans “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.

Escorted by N.C.C, cadets, the Chief Guest Sh. Bhasin gracefully marched forward to hoist the National Flag, while the school band played the welcome tune. As the Chief Guest unfurled the flag, the National Anthem added patriotic fervour and national spirit to the occasion.The students presented cultural and patriotic feast to commemorate the sweet memories and contributions of legendary heroes of Independence. Patriotic songs, Folk Dances, Giddha and Bhangra and Choreography on ‘Patriotism’ and ‘National Integration’ brought a splash of colour to the celebrations.
Hon’ble chief guest Sh Balraj K .Bhasin addressed the audience. In his message, he congratulated all present and said that the sole purpose of celebrating these national festivals is to make the students aware of the sacrifices made by legendary heroes and gallant warriors who made sacrifices and left a rich legacy that the coming generations can feel proud of. He appreciated the architects of the Indian Constitution who gave us a wonderful Constitution to rely on. He also apprised the students about 26 Jan 1930 when Late. Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru kept the foundation of present day Indian Republic.
Under the guidance of Shri Balraj Bhasin, President SDP Sabha, the Cosmetology Department of SDP College for Women organized a Nail Art Workshop on 25 January, 2018 in the college premises. Ms. Manju Bhashinee, the officiating Principal inaugurated the workshop.
Around 15 students participated in the workshop with great enthusiasm. The students displayed their talent and creativity by painting beautiful designs on the nails of teachers and students who were present at the workshop.

The competition was adjudged by Dr. Geeta Bhandari, Head of the English Department. Under the guidance of Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President SDP Sabha, Basant Panchami was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy at SDP College for Women on 22 January, 2018. The students from Music Department presented a Saraswati Vandana with the melodious tunes of Sitar. The whole college was filled with the air of peace and spirituality.
Ms. Manju Bhashinee, the officiating Principal prayed to Maa Saraswati for the well being and prosperity of all. She also emphasized on the importance of prayers for students in daily routine.

Balraj Bhasin, President College Managing Committee, NSS department organized one day workshop on “Women Health & Hygiene – Self grooming” on 19th Jan, 2018 in the college campus. Mrs. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal welcomed Ms. Vandana Patyal and Mrs. Paramjeet Saini Campaign Manager, P&G and their team. Ms. Vandana Patyal addressed the students and gave lecture regarding personal hygiene and menstruation cycle among the female. Students asked their queries regarding menstruation problems. P&G also distributed their products as free sample among students. Ms. Vandana also advised students to take proper nutritition and healthy diet. Camp was coordinated by NSS Programme Officers Mrs. Ramanpreet, Ms. Esha Gupta, Ms. Poonam.
Under the guidance of Sh. Balraj Bhasin, SDP College for Women celebrated the Lohri festival on January 13, 2018 in the college premises. The officiating Principal, Ms. Manju Bhashinee ignited the bonfire and wished all the staff members as well as the students.
The students entertained the audience by presenting a variety of cultural items of dance and music. Everyone including the staff and the students enjoyed the festival whole heartedly while savoring the sweetness of peanuts and gachak.

Ms. Neel Kamal Head Dept. of Commerce extended a cordial welcome to Mr. Sanjeev Thapar, D.G.M operation and Academics, Mr. Atul Kumar, Academic Manager & Mr. Gagandeep Singh, Academic Counsellor. In the discussion they guides the students, how they can earn a handsome money by using e-resources. Mr. Atul Kumar threw light on the various aspects of the Placement of e-tutors in Mathematics and talked about the different steps of the selection procedure. He also motivated the students to do efforts to be independent in their life.
The Placement was followed by an interaction session. Students expressed queries and received satisfactory answers. Around 50 candidates were shortlisted for the personal interview.

Celebration of NCC Day
Under the guidance of Sh. Balraj Bhasin, President, College Managing Committee , The NCC department celebrated NCC Day in SDP College for Women, Ludhiana on 20th Nov,2017.On this occasion , NCC department organized Essay Writing Competition on the topic Drug Addiction and Role of Youth in developing economy. In this competition , all NCC cadets took participate. Beside it, NCC cadets also conducted an anti-drug rally nearby areas of college campus.Ms. Manju Bhashinee , the officiating principal and Dr. Geeta Bhandari ,Co-academic incharge appreciated the NCC department to put their best efforts to create awareness among youth.

Gupta Memorial Inter college Debate Contest here today in the college . The contest was organised to commemorate the sweet and pious memory of Late Sh. O.P. Gupta, a social and political activist, philanthropist and freedom fighter. Dr. Poonam Preet, MBBS, PCS Assistant Commissioner (Grievances), Ludhiana was the chief guest on the occasion.The members of the Management present were Sh. Shammi Kapoor, Sh.H.K.Chugh, Sh. Vijayinder Gupta, Sh. Sanjeev Gupta, Sh. Mangal Sen Grover, Principal Jasbeer Chauhan, Deepak Kapoor. Seven college teams participated in this competition. Ms. Sushminder Kaur, Dr K.K. Principal Ms. Manju Bhashinee formally welcomed the chief guest and highlighted the life and achievements of Sh. O.P. Gupta. Hon'ble chief guest Dr. Poonam Preet, MBBS, PCS awarded team trophy and cash prizes of Rs. 1000. Rs.500 and Rs. 300 to the First, Second and Third prize winner. A participation prize of Rs.200 cash was given to all participants. Ms. Poonam Preet said that knowledge is empowering and the students should connect with parents, teachers and society and rise in their respective careers. She encouraged the students to be bold and march ahead in their life to bring a pleasant change in their lives. She also paid tribute to Sh. O.P. Gupta, a seasoned politician and leader of masses and promoter of women empowerment who set up this college so that girls students residing in the vicinity, could avail opportunity of higher education. National Youth Day celebrated
Under the guidance of Sh. Balraj Bhasin; President SDP Sabha, ‘National Youth Day’ was celebrated with great fervor in SDP College for Women, Ludhiana on 9-11-17. The event was arranged by ‘Red Ribbon Club’ dedicated to the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda where a Poster Making Competition was organized. On this occasion, the students expressed their thoughts and opinions on the principles of Swami Vivekananda and various social evils like Drug Abuse, AIDS, etc. Around 28 students participated in the event with much enthusiasm to create awareness. Ms. Manju Bhashinee, the officiating Principal appreciated the efforts of the participants by rewarding them with prizes. She stressed while addressing the audience that the Youth is the foundation of a nation so it is very important for them to take a stand against the prevalent social evils, only then progress is possible. She encouraged them to take inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s life and lessons while congratulating the Hindi and Fine Arts Department for the successful organization of the event.

Ms. Manju Bhashinee, the officiating Principal of SDP College welcomed the esteemed guests, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Mr. Sourav Sood, Ms. Priya Sharma (Administration Officers) and Mr. Prabhjot Singh, Senior Assistant, United India Insurance Company. A two day joint Diwali Cultural Youth Festival began here today in S.D.P. College for Women, Ludhiana amidst much exuberance. All S.D.P. educational institutions viz S.D.P.Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road, S.D.P. Sr. Sec.School, Basti Jodhewal, Sh.RamLal Bhasin Public School Dugri, Sh. Om Parkash Gupta S.D.P. Sr.Sec. School, Quilla Mohalla and SDP Collegiate Sr.Sec.School, joined these festivities.
The whole campus wore a festive look with colourful flags, banners and rangoli designs. Students attired in gaudy clothes and latest jewellery added glamour and beauty to the festival.

Balraj Bhasin, President, College Managing Committee, NSS Department organized one day free Health Check Up camp for staff and students on 26th Sep, 2017 in the College campus. Mrs. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal, presented flowers to Dr. Tasveen (B.H.M.S) and her team. Dr. Tasveen discussed various health issues. Approximately 200 staff and students of the college came for health check up. Doctors prescribed them various medicines and gave free consultation during the camp. Ms. Manju Bhashinee, Officiating Principal advised students to take proper nutrition and healthy diet and also encouraged them for meditation. Teej was celebrated today with great conventional zeal, gaiety and fervour. The whole campus wore a festive look. The students attired in traditional Punjabi dresses and embellished jewellery pervaded the atmosphere. They also danced to the tunes of Punjabi folk and other songs. Under the Supreme guidance of Sh. Balraj Bhasin ,President, S.D.P Sabha and College Managing Committee, First Open Darbar of new Academic session 2017-18 was conducted here today in the college seminar hall. The proceedings of the Darbar were presided over by Sh.H.K Chugh, General Secretary, College Managing Committee and Ms. Manju Bhashinee Officiating Principal. Students came forward and put their suggestions and recommendations in front of the Presiding Committee .They gave a patient hearing to the problems and grievances brought forward in the Open Darbar and provided solutions by giving instructions to the concerned persons. Sh.H.K Chugh addressed the students by welcoming them in new Academic session and educated them on the importance of cleanliness in and around the campus. Students also took an Oath to make the college Campus clean and green.

The students presented cultural and patriotic feast to commemorate the sweet memories and contributions of legendary heroes of Independence.Patriotic songs, Folk Dances, Giddha, & Bhangra and Choreography on ‘Patriotism’ and `National Integration 'brought a splash of colour to the celebrations.
Hon'ble Chief Guest Sh. Balraj Bhasin addressed the audience on this occasion. In his message, he congratulated all present and said that the sole purpose of celebrating these national festivals is to make the students aware of the sacrifices made by legendry heroes and gallant warriors. He concluded his message with an appeal to all to perform duty honestly and sincerely and strive towards a clean, strong and vibrant India. The contest was organised to commemorate the sweet and pious memory of Late Sh. O.P. Gupta, a social and political activist, philanthropist and freedom fighter. Mr. K.K. Dhir, Former Registrar, PTU was the chief guest on the occasion and Sh. Sanjeev Gupta son of Sh. O.P. Gupta presided over the function. The members of the Management present were Sh. H.K. Chugh (Gen. Secretary) Ms. S. Verma (Director), Sh. Mangal Sen Grover, Sh. Dhari Shah Singla and Mr. Sanjeev Bindra. Ms. Rashmi Grover ( Retd. Prof. Govt. Activities: Under the supreme guidance and sole inspiration of Sh. Balraj Bhasin President SDP Shaba (Regd.) and College Managing Committee, The Dept. of Fine Arts of S.D.P.College for Women, Ldh organized Exhibition cum workshop. The exhibition was organized under the supervision of Ms. RoopRanjan Dharni, Almost 22 students of Fine Arts participated in this exhibition and exhibited their art and craft in form of Painting, Pots and Flower Making and Best out of Waste was another charm of this Kala Mela. The Creativity was adjudged by Ms. Navedita, Ms. Sudesh Bhalla & Ms. Damandeep. Dr. Neena Aneja, Principal also appreciated the efforts of students.
